Bastille make a welcome return to music in 2016 with the release of their new album Wild World. The 2016 album released three years after their critically acclaimed debut All this Bad Blood.
When talking about their new album frontman Dan Smith told NME:
“On the last album, it was slightly looking back a bit. It was Lynchian, it was retro film noir vibes. And then on this album, I guess it’s much more set in the present and in the world as it is now, so this slightly sterile, dystopian aesthetic just felt… I mean overlapping the themes of the album more than they are in the record, but I just think it’s fun for us creatively to mess around with these ideas and have fun with them.”
Making their fifth appearance at BBC Live Lounge this time with radio presenter Clara Amfo the band performs their new song Send Them Off. The song depicting Shakespearean images of jealousy and exorcism shows a maturing of Bastille’s music while still delivering the same atmospheric sound and stellar vocals.
Also covering Final Song by MØ mixed with Europe’s Final Countdown and Craig David’s Seven Days, we’re reminded that Bastille does covers better than anyone else.
