In a statement released last year, Walt Disney productions officially confirmed the returning collaboration of Indiana Jones in its fifth installment but fans are already wondering if this will be Harrison Ford’s last foray into architecture.
Alan Horn, Disney Chairman stated
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019, It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
Announcing it’s intended release for the summer of 2019 it’s unknown whether it’ll continue in a linear order (2008 fever dream, Crystal Skull was set in the late fifties so eleven years later it’d be on the cusp of the seventies.
Fans have speculated that the final Indiana Jones will end with Indie’s demise, no doubt fuelled by the recent death of Harrison Ford’s other iconic character Han Solo.
But in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter Speilberg did confirm that…
“The one thing I will tell you is I’m not killing off Harrison at the end of it.”
At the same time, there have been several rumors over the years that Disney are looking to reboot the franchise meaning this could be the last time we see Harrison Ford in the role but not Indiana altogether.
