In the god dam best news to come out of America since we realised the election was almost over… Donald Glover of Childish Gambino, Community, Atlanta and all around being a great guy fame will be playing the iconic part of Lando Calrissian in the young Han Solo movie.
Lando Calrissian portrayed by Billy Dee Williams in the original Star Wars Triology is a friend to Han Solo and prior to the films Lando won the Millennium Falcon in a card game.
Starring alongside Hail Caesar’s! Alden Ehrenreich in the 2018 film lined up behind Rogue One and the sequel to Force Awakens- how and if the Han Solo film factors into the storyline of the current film remains to be seen but we are definitely looking forward too it and hoping he pops up alongside Finn and Rey in some kind of Force form.
Congrats to Mr Glover we know he’ll do great.
The Han Solo moving is getting well under way with Alden Ehrenreich from (Hail! Caesar) confirmed as young Han Solo and close to casting Lando Calrissian (rumours including Donald Glover and Michael B.Jordan) and now will be featuring a female lead.
Although there’s not exact confirmation on who the character is going to be some people are speculating it’s Sana Starros from the Star Wars comic. The front runners for the role are rumoured to be Zoe Kravitz from X-Men, Tessa Thompson from Creed and Naomi Scott from the new power rangers movie.
When fandoms collide! Emma Watson of Harry Potter and our favourite storm trooper John Boyega will be starring together in the 2017 thriller The Circle.
Based on the 2013 novel by David Eggers of the same name, The Circle documents Mae Holland’s rise through the ranks of powerful technology company The Circle. Emma Watson will be playing the main character Mae who joins the company after college and becomes enamoured with the magical futuristic company and everything it has to offer.
She becomes infatuated with her mysterious colleague Kalden played by Boyega and she very quickly discovers that everything at The Circle isn’t as amazing as it seems.
Directed by James Ponsoldt who also directed the Spectacular Now and a couple episodes of Master of None, The Circle also has a stellar cast including Tom Hanks, Karen Gillian and Patton Oswalt. The Circle is scheduled for a 2017 release.
Talking with Collider news on his current press tour, it was only natural that any conversation with the immensely talented Adam Driver would turn to Star Wars at one point or another. Asked about the script for Star Wars Episode 8, Driver responded
It’s similar to how The Empire Strikes Back has a different tone. For that people always go “oooh, it’s dark” but I don’t know that it necessarily is. He’s not dumbing anything down for someone and that’s really fun to play.
Taking up the helm from J.J Abrams, Rian Johnson will be writing and directing the feature film which comes out December 2017. Rian Johnson is primarily known for his work on Breaking Bad and his film Looper.
The currently unnamed Episode 8 will leave off after the death of Han Solo and Rey finding Skywalker, the path for the characters are currently unknown.
Episode 8 will also premiere after Rogue One which is coming this Christmas so we may have some answers coming our way…
As the rumours swirl about Rogue One and the various productions issues are being alleged we are ready for more good news about Star Wars.
